Final Touch...

Just got the last item for the entry closet today. A rack to put our shoes on! They usually get kicked in there every which way so we'll see...........!

Closet Transformation!

From this...
To this....

The last piece from the 2006 kitchen remodel has finally
been completed! It was a little neglected while Wayne
traveled, etc....!
We had a board up with nails in it to hang all our coats on.

New (and old) Window Treatments

Just for fun I thought I would post some of our window treatments we have put up in the past couple of years! Thanks, Elaine! We love them all! We may still give you business after you leave your business!
(It's taking me a while completing this post so I'll finish updating it later!)

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Wayne had the day off work on Wednesday so I took him with me to school to help with building Indian dioramas and working lunch time! He was pretty glad when we could escape!

Winter Wonderland! The Australians First Snow! (and Thanksgiving!)
No snowblower accidents this year--thank goodness!

Great Music! You can still play it, Lauren!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Travel safe, eat lots, and enjoy!

Deep Cleaning!

Kyle wanted me to blog a page telling about the work they did yesterday! Wayne and the boys crawled under the house and removed all the old wood, pipes, and pipe insulation that was under there. Then they laid down plastic throughout. Wayne called me on his cell phone to have me clear out the opening. Carlin had piled it all in the opening!! Thank goodness for technology!

Happy Birthday, Kyle!

Yesterday Kyle turned double digits! I love the time of year for his birthday. This year we made witches hats. They were so cute and fun to make! (He wouldn't appreciate me calling them cute!) They are cookies dipped in chocolate with an ice cream cone dipped in chocolate with sprinkles. Inside the cone you put candy. The class loved them! I was at lunch with my classes and when Kyle's class came in the lunchroom, they all came and gave me a hug!

His big surprise was in the afternoon when he got home from school. He has been wanting kittens for so long. I picked up three from a mom from school. All three kids were quite excited about them! Kate loves them, too, but they don't love her yet!

Lantern Tours

Carlin's fiddlers group played the past two weekends in the Lantern Tours. Kyle's fourth grade class took a field trip there one evening. They re-enact history of the area. We had fun when Kyle's group went through on the tour--he was wearing a red coat and started a battle! He loved it!

Carlin played the violin in the "tavern". Their costumes were loaned to them by the museum.

Harvest Time

Nothing like a "Cornhusker" getting to live next to a cornfield--in Michigan! Harvesting just began last night. I'll miss the cornfields, but it will be good to be able to see across the countryside again.

Treasure Find! (What is it?!)

This past weekend we came across a real find! A "kraut cutter"! Okay--I know most people our age don't get too excited about such a find, but we have spent enough time cutting cabbage with the food processor and by hand to know how much time this "ole timer" will save!! All we have to do is place the cabbage in the box and slide it back and forth over the blades! Can't wait to try it out--next year!

Not many make the good ole' kraut in the crocks either, but when one marries into a family that make pierogies then one must learn to make sauerkraut! (Pierogies will be another entry on another day)

See Kyle! See Kyle Run! See Kyle Run Fast!

Kyle just got his name posted at school for being the fastest runner for the 1/2 mile for the fourth grade! He is only 30 seconds behind the fastest sixth grader!

Peppers, Anyone?!!!!!

I thought I would start picking what was left for peppers in the garden. So far I've made it through about half of the habaneros, mild banana peppers, cayenne, and sweet green peppers. I haven't even started on the hot banana peppers and about three other kind that I can't remember the names of. I've done enough chopping and slicing to last me for quite a while, but still have loads in the garden.

The principal at Kyle's school asked if I would consider making salsa to sell at school events. I think we have enough I could almost do that--but I can't imagine how many days that would take!!!

My hands feel hot enough tonight! I even wore gloves, but the heat still works its way inside!

Fall At Last!

I'm loving the season change! Except for last weeks temperatures that took us almost to 90 again. I've had fun decorating the china hutch this year. I got some straw bales (for the dog) and put them on the porch with some mums. I did give in and put some straw in the dog house for Kate. Now she doesn't bother running out to bark at us when we go out to the bus stop!

275 Jars Of Canning

Tis the season--but I think we are finally finished with canning! Unless we come across something else!

We have finished up with 175 pints of salsa (we split with Warren's), 50 quart of tomato soup, 25 quart of grape juice, and 25 quart of tomato juice. I think we might make it through the winter!

Most of it was fun except I ended up with poison ivy and poison oak from grape picking! I went in for my second dose of a shot for poison ivy today. The first one didn't seem to do the trick so hopefully this one does the trick!

Kyle's school is trying to talk us into selling the salsa--sorry, but I don't think I want to part with it! Just think--Wayne could have a job on the side--making salsa!!

Out With The Old--In With The New!

Wish we would have had this blog page when we were doing our kitchen last summer. We got to use the camper kitchen a lot. The camper was parked at the end of the sidewalk so it was pretty handy.

Growing Up!

I finally got a picture of the kids--two weeks after school started!! Three kids in three different schools.

I'm still lunch assistant at Kyle's school. I also sub as an aide there.
